Frequently Asked Questions

Used Tires vs. New

Used tires can offer a cost savings, however, it’s important to check the grip and tread on any tires you may purchase. In addition, when buying used tires, while you may have upfront savings, you will lack the warranty you otherwise would have been guaranteed from the manufacturer on new tires.

Are Used Tires Safe?

If you are buying from a trusted used tire dealer, you are typically given reassurance that the tires you purchase are road safe. However, there are ways you can check the tires to make sure they are up to your specifications.

In addition, you can see how old the tires are by checking the four-digit DOT code of the tires. The first two numbers show the week when it was made and the last two digits represent the year. So, a tire with a DOT code of 1106 was made in the 11th week of 2006.
